Absolute Change (Abs Chg)

Definition

The net change between two time periods or scenarios, expressed in actual units or dollars. Absolute change reflects the true scale of business impact without adjusting for starting size or growth rate.

How It's Calculated

Current Period Value − Prior Period Value

Example

If a beverage brand’s unit sales increase from 1.2 million units to 1.35 million units over a four-week period, the absolute change is +150,000 units, regardless of the percentage growth.
