Average Items Selling (AIS)
Definition
The average number of items or SKUs from a brand or category that generate sales per store over a defined period. AIS reflects active assortment performance, excluding items that are carried but not selling.
How It's Calculated
Total items selling across all stores ÷ Number of stores
Example
A frozen meals brand reports an AIS of 3.1, indicating that while more items may be carried, only about three SKUs per store are consistently selling during the period.
