Base Average Unit Price (BAUP)

Definition

An IRI/Nielsen database metric that aims to capture the price of your products at average full price over time. This metric is the "purest" price metric you can get to understand how price changes affect sales.

How It's Calculated

Example

Nielsen reports a yogurt brand’s Base Average Unit Price (BAUP) at $1.25, while its Average Selling Price (ASP) is $1.10 due to frequent “10 for $10” promotions.
