CAGR vs. YOY

Definition

Year-over-year (YOY) measures change between adjacent periods, while Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) smooths multi-year growth

How It's Calculated

YOY = (Current ÷ Prior − 1) × 100; CAGR = (Ending ÷ Beginning)^(1 ÷ years) − 1

Example

YOY sales grew 5% in 2024, while the brand’s three-year CAGR was 8%.
