Distribution Void

Definition

store or location that should carry a product based on its authorized item list but does not currently have it in stock or on shelf. Distribution voids represent missed sales opportunities and can occur due to ordering issues, out-of-stocks, or system errors.

How It's Calculated

Number of authorized stores not carrying the SKU.

Example

A brand identifies 82 distribution voids for its top-selling cereal SKU at a major retailer, prompting the broker to work with store managers to correct the issue.
