Impulse Product (or Purchase)

Definition

A product or purchase made spontaneously without prior planning, typically triggered by in-store visibility, placement, or promotional cues. Impulse products are often low-cost, high-visibility items positioned to encourage unplanned purchases.

How It's Calculated

Example

A candy brand places single-serve items near checkout lanes, driving impulse purchases from shoppers who did not intend to buy the product before entering the store.
