Institutional Buyers

Definition

Organizations that purchase products in large quantities for use or resale within institutions, rather than for direct consumer retail. Institutional buyers include entities such as schools, hospitals, restaurants, and government agencies.

How It's Calculated

Example

A foodservice distributor supplies bulk packaged goods to institutional buyers like school districts and hospital systems, which use the products in meal programs rather than selling them at retail.
