Inventory

Definition

The quantity of finished goods available for sale or distribution at any point in the supply chain, including at manufacturers, distribution centers, and retail locations. Inventory represents product on hand, not yet sold to the end consumer.

How It's Calculated

Example

A beverage brand monitors inventory levels at retailer distribution centers to ensure sufficient stock is available to meet demand during a planned promotion.
