Items Per Hour

Definition

A productivity metric that measures the number of items sold or processed per hour, typically used to evaluate store operations, checkout efficiency, or sales velocity over time.

How It's Calculated

Total items sold (or processed) ÷ Number of hours

Example

A convenience store tracks items per hour during peak periods and finds that sales increase to 300 items per hour, helping optimize staffing and merchandising during high-traffic times.
