Minimum Advertised Price (MAP)
Definition
The lowest price at which a manufacturer allows a product to be advertised, as specified in agreements with retailers. MAP policies are used to protect brand value and pricing integrity, while still allowing retailers to sell at lower prices in-store if they choose.
How It's Calculated
Example
A premium appliance brand sets a MAP of $99.99, meaning retailers cannot advertise the product below that price online or in ads, even if they choose to sell it for less in-store.
