Percent Incremental

Definition

The percentage of total sales generated by an activity that is truly incremental, meaning it would not have occurred without that activity. Percent incremental measures the quality of sales lift, distinguishing new demand from shifted or cannibalized volume.

How It's Calculated

Incremental sales ÷ Total observed sales × 100

Example

A promotion generates 1,000 units in total sales, of which 400 units are incremental. The percent incremental is 40%, indicating that 40% of the sales were truly new demand.
