Promotion Allowance

Definition

A financial incentive provided by a manufacturer to a retailer to support promotional activities, such as price reductions, displays, or feature advertising. Promotion allowances are used to encourage retailer participation and execution of planned promotions.

A beverage brand offers a promotion allowance to a retailer to fund a temporary price reduction and feature placement during a seasonal campaign.
