Weighted (WTD)

Definition

A measurement approach that accounts for the relative importance or size of retailers or stores (typically based on sales volume), ensuring that larger, higher-volume accounts have a greater influence on the metric.

How It's Calculated

Varies by metric, but generally:
Weighted Value = Σ (Metric × Store/Account Weight) ÷ Σ (Weights)

Example

A brand evaluates distribution using weighted ACV, where distribution in a high-volume retailer like Walmart contributes more to the overall metric than distribution in a smaller regional chain, providing a more accurate view of market impact.
